Dulux delivers a colorful makeover to SOS Children’s Village Tianjin
Thanks to the splash of paint, which has changed the living spaces of two families in the SOS Children’s Village Tianjin, dull spaces are a thing of the past. After a total makeover of corridors and playrooms in 2018, the SOS Children’s Village Tianjin was once again visited by the Dulux China team. However, this time, we focused on the living spaces of the two families - Zhang and Huo.
China, TianjanThanks to the splash of paint, which has changed the living spaces of two families in the SOS Children’s Village Tianjin, dull spaces are a thing of the past. After a total makeover of the corridors and playrooms in 2018, the SOS Children’s Village Tianjin was once again visited by the Dulux China team. However, this time, we focused on the living spaces of the two families – Zhang and Huo.
Painting with heart
SOS Children’s Village Tianjin is situated in the south-east of the capital Beijing, and it’s a home for children who can no longer live with their families. Here, they can find genuine love and support in one of the 16 SOS families.
To create better living conditions, and a warm, family atmosphere, we decided to do what we are best at – playing with colors. An environment that feels like home is something necessary for a normal life and upbringing of children. That’s why we were determined to deliver nothing less than a warm, family environment.
Unbelievably emotional response
For a complete renovation, we used bright colors and colorful details to add more life into space. Our playfulness and determination to completely transform this space paid off, as the reactions we received were truly emotional.
Mom Huo and the children were so happy and grateful when they saw the new look of the freshly painted walls. Mom Huo was so excited and smiled immediately as she came to the hallway of the newly painted house, but it is the one child’s reaction that stole our hearts. While holding a mom’s hand, the child looked amazed by the change that happened in the house. With eyes wide open, he asked excitedly: “Mom, is this really our house?”
Raising awareness to help more children
Our initiative was also highly appreciated by Mr. Zhu Fei, acting secretary-general of SOS Children’s Villages China. He expressed gratitude to the Dulux team and its parent company AkzoNobel as well while implying that he hopes that the “care for children” program would draw more attention from the public and more support to SOS Children’s Villages China.
Joint efforts from all walks of the society are necessary, as he said, to enable kids and moms at SOS Children’s Villages to live a happier life.
