In partnership with MasterPeace Nepal, AkzoNobel chose to paint a mural in a school in Kavre district to send their message for peace, tolerance and diversity.
The power of education as an inspiration
This particular school is of significant importance for the local community as after the earthquake in 2015 the local school was destroyed. However MasterPeace Nepal managed to raise funds for building a new schools, thus resulting in a new local school for Kavre area – Dhading school, the only school resorted as it is literally creation above destruction.
The artists who colored the wall are from the Kathmandu University, Faculty of Art and Design. The design was inspired by the importance of education and its crucial role in the community’s development. The main goal of the design is to encourage children to attend classes and continue their education despite the dire socio-economic situation, the colorful designs draw a brighter future for children. The mural will promote education and beauty over destruction among the students and the community as they will pass by it every day before starting the classes.
The school is a MasterPeace school, where the peace education is a central curriculum and it provides equal access to boys and girls education, nutritious meals, integration and basic conditions. Therefore, the club has decided to paint a mural on a wall of the school with the help of the students to make them more aware and committed to the community affairs as well as to show them how hardships could be overcome as a result of joint efforts, perseverance and hard work. The goal of this mural is inpiring children to dream for a better world where education is the key to achieve their dreams.
