Rainbow Village in Lahore, Pakistan

You only get one chance to make a great first impression. That is why AkzoNobel Pakistan decided to add a splash of paint to the first thing visitors of Lahore see once they leave the airport – the Dher Pindi neighborhood. By adding colors to the facades, we helped residents rekindle affection for their home while hoping to inspire visitors to fall in love with this city as well.

A colorful welcome

Almost one-kilometer village wall has been completely painted with bright colors, offering a warm welcome to visitors of Lahore.

To give a fresh look to the Dher Pindi neighborhood, Let’s Colour provided 1,280 liters of colorful paint from the Dulux range. Working together with the local government and people, we painted 30 houses and 40 shops within the 3,620 square meter area.

Dher Pindi becomes the Rainbow Village

As per the local government’s request for a cheerful new look, we have selected seven colors of the rainbow for the makeover. As a result, the local media and residents are now referring to the Dher Pindi neighborhood as the “Rainbow Village”.

“We’ve always believed that paint has the power to transform people’s lives and this is a fantastic way for us to support an amazing initiative through our global ‘Let’s Colour’ program,” says Mubbasher Omar, CEO of AkzoNobel Pakistan. “The Rainbow Village project aligns perfectly with our own commitment to positively impact surrounding communities by uplifting and inspiring people’s lives through the power of paint and color.”

Collaboration for a more colorful future

In collaboration with Let’s Colour and AkzoNobel Pakistan, this initiative was led by the local government and the Sohna Lahore project, which aims to continue giving makeovers to other villages in the area. Lahore Division Commissioner, Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghuman, inaugurated and completed the Rainbow Village of Dher Pindi by painting the last wall.

“Our main aim is to represent our city in the best way possible to visitors and to enhance the quality of living for its residents,” says Zulfiqar Ghuman. “AkzoNobel is known for its supporting community projects around Pakistan so it was a pleasure to welcome the AkzoNobel team in uplifting this neighborhood by adding color to the lives of our people.”
